hans-christian schink

german photographer hans-christian schink explores the phenomenon of solarisation with his project sol. the strange hovering lines in the pictures are actually photographic traces of the sun's movement across the sky, captured over a period of one-hour-long exposures with his camera. take a peek at more of hans-christian's work right here.

penelope umbrico

some interesting projects made from found photos by penelope umbrico. the top is a detail from suns from the internet where penelope unearthed 541,795 pictures searching for the word 'sunset' on flickr, exploring the ubiquitous portrayal of this natural form in digital space. the bottom is from her project honeymoon suites which playfully deconstructs the notion of romance in marketing materials. here she takes very small fragments from horizons depicted on various honeymoon resort brochures collected at a wedding convention. see more of penelope's work here. and a big thanks to asha for passing along this link.

dave dyment

for his series sky faded from the sun, artist dave dyment took boring pictures of the sky, left the negatives exposed to the sun for a month, and then printed them. that pesky sun both makes the taking of these pictures possible and then ruins them. see more of dave's work here.
