On March 16, 2008 I performed a Google image search for the phrase "the origin of the world." The engine returned 987 results which I subsequently photographed on screen with a large format camera. The resulting images were reproduced in three volumes. The images are presented in the order they were ranked by Google, and are enlarged by 300% over the original thumbnails.

a few images found on painted,etc. a new site produced by the australian artist ry david bradley . he describes it as a broad research initiative to document the practice , understanding, and lineage of painting and its descendants in the post internet age. painted etc accepts contributions, brief reviews, short artist essays, statements and images. but it is a very cool site at the intersection of new media, photography and painting. enter painted , etc here

If you have time go down the rabbit hole of closky's works here and here - but if you do you will get lost , likely with a smile on your face . closky is an artistic force of nature , and as the critic frédéric paul puts it, "The artist is always working and if he is not working, he is 'training."

the lives of objects is a project by mieke marple. it's a website "in which real spaces are rendered virtually using google sketchup and given fictitious shows." see more here.

anna lundh

swedish artist anna lundh's 'hollywood internet.' as she explains about the project, "a collage of footage from various hollywood movies from mid-90s and on, where internet is portrayed. what is shown is obviously not the real internet, but rather a meta internet, fabricated to work in favor of a certain plot or narrative. the imagery isn't necessarily very authentic, yet we have no difficulty interpreting this imaginary aesthetic." see more here.

ian haig

behold australian artist ian haig's men of the internet project. "a web project which consists of a compilation of found images of the cornerstone of any good teen movie: computer nerds. 'men of the internet' presents the idea of the computer nerd as a species of human that have had their bodies literally transformed and modified as a result of prolonged computer use. a collection of real life altered physiognomy and biological/technological modification: bigger brains, protruding craniums and enhanced eyesight with enormous glasses." see the whole project right here.
