Gwenneth Boelens

Hand-Wall, 2007, 16 mm film (original) or digitized on monitor, duration 4 min 35 s
"Scanning the environment by eye-sight is an essential characteristic of Boelens’ work and taken literally in her filmic work Hand-Wall. As if to ascertain over and over again the limitations and restrictions, a person’s hand wanders along the walls and the windows of an undefined room. As the eye follows this movement a loose impression emerges – a feeling of the space that nevertheless remains insecure and is additionally interrupted by the look outside." (from The Entire Business of Coming Closer press release 2008)

Negative. Rather than Truth, 2010, wood from reproduction table, ceramic notepad, magnifying glass, metal, crayon on glass, ink-jet prints, 68 x 58 x 74 cm   "Negative. Rather than Truth alludes to the idea of a source image through a handmade negative. The title refers to its status; it is an attempt to get to a distillment of reality. It did not yet materialize as an image; it rather precedes the image."

Jasper Rigole

OUTNUMBERED, a brief history of imposture, is an installation from 2009 that generates a moving image using a found panoramic photograph from 1936. The installation is computer-controlled and generates an aleatoric narrative using an extensive database of people who, in some way, are associated with imposture. It is an audiovisual installation that examines the strategies used in making documentaries, Fact Fiction novels and popular scientific equivalents. Jasper Rigole examines concepts such as authenticity and objectivity by taking on a quasi - encyclopedic approach to his subject matter and presenting it with pseudo-scientific precision. The result is an apparently detailed study of the history of falsification.

joe winter

joe winter's 'xerox astronomy and the nebulous object-image archive' is"an installation in two parts: 1) a central kinetic sculpture and 2) the presentation of the image archive the sculpture produces. the first part places an office photocopier at the center of a mechanical model of the universe. in this model, a group of desklamp-esque arms orbit robotically, maneuvering light sources above the bed of the copier, the system's observation and recording device. by continually documenting, through photocopies, the paths of the orbiting objects, the copier produces images suggestive both of various forms of scientific vision (astrophotography, sonography, etc) and paranormal/hoax photography." see more here.

ugnius gelguda

ugnius gelguda's 'memory leak'. "3 projectors function in non-synchronous mode and the projectors "move" randomly, this making overall visual noise. the installation of projected photo slides questions photography as a carrier of information, as an attribute of memory and the document of the past." see more here.
