In and Out of Orders by Damon Zucconi, 2007Footage of deep sea thermal vent temperature measurement from the JAMSTEC (Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology) database, which is organized and searchable by specific actions carried out at some of the ocean's darkest depths. Into this dark current of heat and movement, an external mechanized optical force is introduced to impose temporary order, illumination, and data collection. After each clip is a re-filmed clip in which the artist records the path of his eye in the previous video.
