horst ademeit

horst ademeit's obsessive and fascinating project to record traces of radiation damage. "ademeit devoted almost twenty years of his life to the photographic documentation of 'cold rays'...as well as newspapers and food, these daily pictures show measuring devices such as a thermometer, light meter, compass, and clock. Each photograph is numbered and annotated by hand: these notes comprise ademeit's measurements, for which, alongside objective methods, he developed a subjective one that involved measuring the width of a crack in a wooden table; but he also described the atmosphere of his surroundings, smells, sounds, and objects not visible in the pictures." see more here.
