fax me

I Heart Photograph will be taking up residence at Capricious Space in NYC this Saturday for a very special project that is part of the IN REAL LIFE exhibition and you are all invited to participate.

Saturday 14 March
12–4pm EST
I Heart Photograph's Open Call For Faxed Photographs
(+001) 718.384.1208

In a performance that enacts a recent history of data compression and transmission techniques, I Heart Photograph will attempt to assemble the world’s largest archive of photographs transmitted via telefacsimile in just four hours.

Anyone is invited to send one photograph by fax machine during the hours of 12–4pm EST—temporarily replacing the digital means through which work is typically submitted to the blog.

Of particular interest is the relationship between data transmission techniques and their resulting forms—the fax machine and scanner will be considered collaborators in the creative process, performing alterations to the photographic content, and essentially re-authoring its visual form. Every single photograph received by fax during the 4 hours will be cataloged, scanned, and immediately posted on iheartphotograph.com.

Along with your photo, please include a cover letter with your name, email address, URL, and title of the work. Fax to: (+001) 718.384.1208.

Use of analogue fax machines preferred, but if you can't access one try a free online faxing service like www.faxzero.com or www.freepopfax.com and numerous others like it.

Visitors to the gallery are most encouraged too:
