paula muhr

work by paula muhr. " a reinterpretation of medical photographs of women from the end of 19th and the beginning of 20th century...through slight transition in symbolic meaning, this work aims to problematise the apparently stable visual boundary established within the medical context between the 'normal' viewer and the 'pathognomic' patient." see more here.

paula muhr's 'absence' project. "the series includes both the old photographs of my mother from the family album and my own photographs of her...the meaning of private snapshots remains evasive even when the memory of the experience they document is still alive." see more here.

paula muhr

paula muhr's 'tito - tata' project. "a work based on pairing found images of the yugoslav communist president marshall tito, a famous womaniser and an undying idol of my father, with business photographs of my father while he was the director of one of the largest state-owned sweets factories in yugoslavia. the striking formal resemblance of the images points to underlying stereotypes governing the convention of representing dominant male figures." see more here.
