kristine thompson

kristine thompson's 'projecting' project. "using a video projector, i made these artists and their personal spaces 'appear' in my studio so that i could interact with them. these set-ups represent an attempt to understand the work, the working process, and the personal lives of these artists who are no longer around to speak for themselves. the futile lengths taken to construct the space for an imagined relationship or conversation is meant to render the images both humorous and melancholic. in this series and others, i question how empathy may be elicited from a reproduced image." see more here.

ugnius gelguda

ugnius gelguda's 'memory leak'. "3 projectors function in non-synchronous mode and the projectors "move" randomly, this making overall visual noise. the installation of projected photo slides questions photography as a carrier of information, as an attribute of memory and the document of the past." see more here.

remigiusz pyrdol

here remigiusz pyrdol photographs his subjects alongside projections of their immigration photos. the contrast between the person and their image calls attention to issues of identity, but also i think poignantly addresses the failure of all photographs, despite their likeness to reality to actually represent it. you can see more from this project here.

agnieszka brzezanska

to be truthful, i don't exactly know what these pictures by polish artist agnieszka brzezanska are, but i find them unbelievably beautiful. i am supposing they are photographs of shadows against a wall, but the broadway 1602 gallery's website where i came across the work is charmingly mysterious. judge for yourself...you can see more of agnieszka's work right here.
