paul rousteau

french photographer paul rousteau's look at a hospice in belgium is a subject matter i'd never exactly seen tackled in this style before. paul's got other interesting stuff too (i especially recommend taking a peek here). and you can see the rest of his work right here.

jimmy robert

i really love the way jimmy robert is using photographs (and other stuff) in these installations. he deconstructs how preciously we treat 2-dimensional objects in such a great way. see more of his work here.

de gruyter + thys • travaux photographiques

there's something pleasantly uncanny about these pictures by belgian artists jos de gruyter and harald thys. most of their other work is video or installation-based and i think that might explain a few things about the strange aesthetic at work here. i love how these pictures are at the same time very stark and sparse, yet packed with such weird, unravelable narratives. and they're totally eerie, like film stills from a b-rate, very minimalist horror movie. jos and harald are represented by alice day in brussels. also read more about their video work here.
